What we Offer

When studying abroad, unforeseen accidents or illnesses can occur, leading to substantial medical expenses. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a compulsory requirement for all international students in many countries. It is imperative to maintain OSHC coverage throughout your entire period of study abroad. This comprehensive health insurance ensures that you have access to necessary medical services and assistance, providing peace of mind and financial protection against unexpected healthcare costs while pursuing your education overseas.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

OSHC also provides peace of mind, ensuring that your health needs are attended to and that you can readily access medical services while studying abroad. This allows you to concentrate on your studies and fully enjoy your time in your host country without worrying about healthcare concerns.

Why Do Overseas Students Need OSHC?

Overseas students may not qualify for Medicare. Different public health systems have different approaches. Without Medicare coverage, the cost of medical treatment can be prohibitively high. Ensuring access to affordable medical care is crucial for international students while they are away from home.

Student VISA Requirements

As an international student, you're obligated to maintain sufficient health insurance for the entirety of your stay in abroad countries. Overseas students who fail to uphold adequate health insurance coverage are susceptible to visa cancellation.

Reciprocal Health Care Agreements with abroad countries:

If the country you're from has a reciprocal health care agreement with abroad countries, you might qualify to access some subsidized health services through the local health system while visiting. However, even if your country has such an agreement, your coverage may be restricted, and you may still be mandated to possess Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

OSHC types

  • Singles – covering only the overseas student who is the primary Student Visa holder*
  • Dual family – covering the overseas student, and either:
  • One adult spouse or de facto partner
  • One or more children under the age of 18 years old
  • Multi-family – covering the overseas student and more than one dependant, which can include:
  • Only one adult spouse or de facto partner
  • One or more dependent children

Want To Save Time & Money?

Utilizing our network of healthcare providers streamlines the claiming process when you visit a doctor. Simply present your valid OSHC membership card or e-membership card from your My OSHC Assistant app on the day of your appointment, and the medical provider will bill us directly for the covered amount of your bill.

With direct billing, the doctor handles your claim on your behalf. Ensure you choose a doctor who specifies their ability to direct bill.

Before your appointment, it’s essential to confirm prices. Always inquire with your doctor or hospital about any additional costs you might need to pay. Some medical providers may charge above the MBS fee, potentially resulting in higher out-of-pocket expenses for you.
